    • Principal,

      Principal Tami Hicks

It is my honor and pleasure to serve as the Model principal! This marks the beginning of my fifth year in this position. Before coming to Model Elementary School, I was an assistant principal at Goshen Middle School (GMS) for three years, an instructional coach at GMS for three years before that, and a teacher at GMS as well. It is my strong belief that it is our responsibility to teach students more than just reading, writing, and math. I believe that teaching them how to think critically and work collaboratively with others, even when you disagree about something, is equally as crucial to their future success as productive citizens in our community. I also believe that we should embrace the characteristics that make each of us unique and cultivate a culture within our Model family that values each other’s differences. At Model, we strongly believe in the power of using data to make instructional decisions that best meet the needs of students. All of our Bulldogs will be exposed to grade-level content and vocabulary with interventions in place to bring all students to the level needed for success. In order to do this, we have developed school goals based on student achievement to measure our impact as educators on our students’ learning. Parents and caregivers are the most important partners in helping us with student achievement. We have an active Parent / Teacher Organization (PTO) that will continue meeting this year to help us celebrate the successes of our learners. It is also a way for parents to become involved in the Bulldog community and bring their perspectives to the table. I have enjoyed getting to know all students, staff, and parents over the past four years and I will say one of the highlights has been watching these youngsters come in as kindergarten students and leave with an abundance of skills and acquired knowledge. It has been so much fun seeing them lose their teeth, meet major milestones, become experts in areas that interest them, and grow as individuals. Sincerely, Tami Hicks Principal of Model Elementary
